Bodhi Tree Brighton is a charity that has its roots in the teachings of the Buddha and we are committed to supporting Buddhist practices and teachings.
We run drop-in groups and one-day and weekend events where you can learn meditation and explore various aspects of meditation practice. Coming to a group or day retreat also offers you the opportunity to meet other people practicing meditation and build supportive spiritual community. Most people find it quite difficult to maintain a practice by themselves, no matter how good the intentions!
The Open Group, Forest Sangha group and LGBT group meet at the Anahata Health Clinic, 119-120 Edward Street, Brighton, BN2 0JL. Awakened Heart Sangha is usually at the Phoenix, see below for details.
We also invite Buddhist teachers to facilitate both one-day and weekend meditation retreats at venues in the Brighton and Hove area. Click on the Events bar on the left hand side for further details about each event.
Bodhi Tree Brighton does not have a fixed charge for its regular groups or events. We are committed to the principle of Dana, the Pali word for generosity, or giving, dating back to the days of the Buddha. This, and the retreat income, is our only source of funding so we are totaly dependant on the generosity of those who come to our events to make it possible for us to continue offering them. None of the committee are paid for their work.
Evening Drop In Groups
We run a range of meditation groups from different Buddhist traditions, to which all are welcome, from beginners to experienced practitioners, people from any faith or none. We offer instructions at all groups.
