Bodhi Tree Brighton is a charity that has its roots in the teachings of the Buddha and we are committed to supporting Buddhist practices and teachings.
We run drop-in groups and one-day and weekend events where you can learn meditation and explore meditation practice as it relates to daily life. There is the opportunity to make connections with other people practicing meditation and build supportive spiritual community. The Open Group, Forest Sangha group and LGBT group meet at the Anahata Health Clinic, for directions see our contact page. Awakened Heart Sangha is usually at the Phoenix, see below for details.
We invite Buddhist teachers to facilitate both one-day and weekend meditation retreats at venues in the Brighton and Hove area. Click on the Events bar on the left hand side for further details about each event.
Bodhi Tree Brighton does not have a fixed charge for its regular groups. We are committed to the principle of Dana, the Pali word for generosity, or giving, dating back to the days of the Buddha. This, and the retreat income, is our only source of funding so we are totaly dependant on the generosity of those who come to our events to make it possible for us to continue offering them.
Looking for a new Programme Manager!
We are looking for someone to coordinate our programme of weekend and day events. We already have good established relationships with a wide variety of teachers (although more suggestions are always welcome) and also have regular venues that we use - the Dharma School, Middle St Primary School and Hanover Community Centre. The Programme Manager liaises with teachers, books venues and arranges people to manage the retreats on the day; we have a good team of people who do this regularly. This is an important and fulfilling role serving the Brighton Sangha and it needs good organisation skills and one to two hours a week. We are a friendly and supportive team, if you are interested in the role please write to btbsecretary (at) gmail.com, we would love to hear from you.
