Mindful Self Compassion is a great way of being both aware of our emotions and kind to ourselves, learning to listen to what we need and cultivate an attitude of kindness and compassion for ourselves.
The Mindful Self Compassion course was designed by Kristin Neff and Christopher Germer after they found that people who were more self-compassionate had significantly improved mental and physical health. There is a large and growing body of research on this – FFI see here https://centerformsc.org/
In this day I will give a short introduction to what Mindful Self Compassion is, what it isn’t, and we’ll do some of the practices and exercises from the full 8-week course, as well as looking at ways to be kinder to ourselves in daily life. I will also make my audio recordings available for you to continue to practice at home.
Jiva has been practising Dharma in the Insight and Thai Forest traditions since 1997 and teaches secular mindfulness as her day job. She is also a qualified Mindful Self Compassion teacher.
