Compassion and Self-care for LGBTQ People
20th April 2018
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
In this evening session for the LGBTQ community, Lama Rod Owens, seeks to address the trauma that many of us experience as marginalised people.
Compassion lies at the heart of our effectiveness to change, but how do we define compassion for ourselves? What practices and strategies from Buddhist teachings can we summon to aid us in facing the violence we see in ourselves and others? How do we develop strategies of self-care, loving, resistance and liberation?
Lama Rod, a dharma teacher in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, will explore the impact a spiritual/healing practice can have on our LGBTQ lives, and how we can empower ourselves in our community to support this.
Lama Rod uses his experience as a black, queer, spiritual activist in the US to relate to those who experience oppression around their sexuality, gender and mental health.
Venue: Community Base, Brighton
