10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Jiva will be offering a short course on core Dharma themes and this is the third class. Each one will stand alone but they will also hang together as a whole. This third one will be on the heart practices of friendliness or loving kindness (metta), compassion (karuna), appreciative joy (mudita) and equanimity or a balanced mind (upekkha). These qualities are known in the Dharma as ‘boundless states of mind’, states that are always good and we can never ‘overdo’. Like any state of mind, they can be fed and cultivated and we will be exploring practices to do this.
The class will consist of some teaching on this theme, some guided practice and discussion and exploration.
Jiva is an experienced meditation practitioner and is now training on the Gaia House Community Dharma Leader Programme with Jenny Wilks as her mentor. She is also an experienced MBSR/MBCT teacher and loves an interactive style of teaching. She leads the Tuesday Open Meditation Group most weeks. FFi email firstname.lastname@example.org/07717718385
